Dealing with Dyslexia

“Having a 13 year old dyslexic daughter is what brought me to The Arcturus Foundation, Inc. on a referral from a friend.  My daughter’s first struggles with spelling emerged seriously in the third grade.  She could not pass a spelling test.  Her diagnosis at that time was what I considered to be very traditional with the only alternative given (because she was also supposedly mildly ADD) was to prescribe Ritalin.  The school she attended said they could not keep her because of her failing grades and her inability to keep up with other students.  Her self-esteem was crushed.  She didn’t understand why she couldn’t ‘get’ the work the other children were mastering so easily.  I moved her to a special school that focused on children with learning differences for the fourth, fifth, and sixth grades.  This was a tremendous help and taught her some basic skills to mainstream back to a regular school for the seventh grade.  Seventh grade was a real struggle, but her grades were passing.  My concern grew, as she was about to enter the eighth grade, that she would not be able to keep up or maintain the workload.  It was the summer before the eighth grade that she began to see Hellmuth Hinz.

At first, it took some understanding on my part as to just what Chi-Force Integration Therapy is and how it could possibly help my daughter’s condition.  We spent a good bit of time with Hellmuth Hinz, having him learn her history, review school results, and feel comfortable with what he could do to help.  I was able to track behavioral patterns and changes in my daughter after she began her visits to Hellmuth Hinz.  Her room was neater, her attention to detail was heightened, and homework was now rarely the struggle it had been the year before.  She was able to focus, sit down, and complete assignments, as well as juggle her extracurricular activities with the load of homework.  Class test scores seemed to be better, but it wasn’t until my mid-semester parent/teacher conference in October that I was truly able to see the results.  The child who had barely made all C’s in seventh grade had all A’s, B’s, and only 2 C’s in the first quarter of eighth grade.  She is so proud of herself and is so pleased with the results of CFI Therapy.  I know it is something we will want and need to continue until such time that we feel that she can handle it on her own, but so far the results have been definitely attributable to the therapy.
